Christmas Decor

One of the reasons I'm so thankful to finally be renting a house is that I get to decorate fore each season! It's been really fun to shop around & try to figure out what my style is. I’ve always loved the way that my mom decorates her house for the holidays. I think she has a pretty traditional style but incorporates a little bit of the farmhouse/rustic style as well. My style is the other way around: mostly farmhouse/rustic-y things with a splash of traditional in there.

I thought it would be fun to share how my home is decorated this Christmas season! A lot of my decor is from Hobby Lobby which I unfortunately can’t link, but I have a few things from Amazon that I'll make sure to link!

I'm still waiting on a few things that I ordered on Black Friday that are taking their sweet time to get to me, but once they come, I'll share a full house tour! Until that happens though, here's a little sneak peak. ;)

When you walk in my front door, you walk directly into my living room. It's a pretty big area, but it was challenging to set up because there's only one plain wall so figuring out where to put my furniture was tough, but I really like how it turned out!

My Dad built me the side table last year & I love how it fits in the space & adds a little bit more of an area to decorate. The lamp was my great grandma's & the black + white picture is from Hobby Lobby as well as both pillows. Both of the plants on the left & right sides of this picture are fake & are from Target.

above picture details linked here (from left to right): white faux plant /  grey couch / black + white aztec rug / Christmas calendar / tall faux plant

I saw this little Christmas calendar at Target & knew I needed to have it because the tassels & style match the aesthetic I've been kind of going with. I just think it's really cute & simple & I like that I have something to hang on the wall. I had a mirror hanging there before that I'll hang back up after the Christmas season.

The wall my couch is against has a little cutout window that exposes the mudroom / laundry room. It seemed slightly pointless & annoying in the beginning, but I actually think that it helps to open up the space & make everything seem bigger. I've started using the shelf as another area to decorate. The red + white polka dot bowl is from Amazon (they came in a pack & I have them spread around my house), but it's no longer in stock. I thought the bowls were a good idea because I use them when I decorate for Valentine’s Day as well! The hymn piece was given to me as a Christmas gift last year, but here's a similar option. The wooden tree & black + white simple floral sign are both from Hobby Lobby so I can't link.

This TV stand is old from my parents, but this fire tv is from Amazon from last year. I'm a big roku person so this was the perfect fit for me. The woven basket is from Marshalls, but I found a similar one that I'll link here. The cream blanket in the basket is from Walmart & it's truly amazing! It's so stinking soft & comes in lots of sizes & other colors. I got the 50x60 size so that I could be really comfy & cozy! The 'pray more, worry less' sign is old from Hobby Lobby & the polka dot pillow is old from Target. I got the burlap + red buffalo plaid ‘Happy Holidays’ banner from Amazon. The black round ottoman is old from Walmart, but I found a similar one that I'll link here.

The front part of my house actually used to be part of the porch, but they added it on as part of the house in the 90s when they did a little reno. Just to the left of the wall hangings is the door that goes into my bedroom so the space was a little bit strange & I wasn't sure how to fill it. I got some inspiration from Pinterest & decided that I wanted to create a little reading nook & that would also help to create some more seating. I got these chairs from Target & it was actually a big ordeal because we found one in a store, I fell in love & there was only one other chair in the state of Kansas at the Target on the other side of the town we were in so we sped over there & bought it as well! Both of the chairs were actually the floor models so the legs are a tiny bit beat up which I got a little bit of a refund for. Fine by me, I love them! They're almost a sherpa material which is just kind of fun because it adds more texture & is different than all of the other chairs I had looked at. The white floral patterned plant pot is from Walmart & they’re still in stock. I love incorporating different patterns & textures to see what looks best together so you’ll see a lot of that throughout my house. This coffee table is from Wayfair & I love the richness that it adds to the space. The red pom pom pillow is also from Target.

I found this little plant stand at a garage sale over the summer & had my brother paint the two shelves white just to add some dimension. This little stand is pretty much right in front of my front door so it's where I keep my keys & sunglasses for quick use. All of the Christmas decor pieces you can see in this picture are from Hobby Lobby.

My table & chairs are from Ashley Furniture & is still available! I love having a high top table that seats four -- it's perfect for me! The faux plant is from Target. The woven tassel centerpiece mat is old from Hobby Lobby.

Throwing in some festive dish towels is always fun! My mom & grandma pretty much always have seasonally decorated hand towels & I love them. These ones are from Target & are actually in two different sets. The grey Joy one comes with a red & white checkered towel & the white falalalala one comes with a red & white striped one. Both sets are $5.

I didn't have much left after decorating my main living spaces, but you can see my bedroom from the living room so I figured throwing in this beaded merry everything pillow would be good! My black wrought iron bed frame is from Wayfair & the duvet cover (& duvet) + leopard throw blanket are both from Amazon.
