We had the absolute BEST weekend celebrating some friends getting married! Truly such a joy to get to watch Thomas find his person. Cheers to The Smiths!
We’ve come a long way from middle school youth group to now! We love The Smiths!
Chiefs on the TV, Piper on my lap, laundry in the dryer & chili on the stove. A perfect Sunday night!
Over the weekend, Piper was having a lot of diarrhea & was very lethargic. On Monday morning, I realized that she was pooping straight blood, so I took her straight to the vet. They did an exam & some bloodwork & put her on a probiotic, antibiotics & some different food. She was not dehydrated & didn’t have a fever so that was good news. The vet thinks she has Hemorrhagic Diarrhea which is actually pretty common. We scheduled a reevaluation for Thursday (if she’s not better, we’ll do more bloodwork & x-rays). They also groomed her which I was very thankful for because the poor thing was a pretty gross mess. She didn’t get to come to school very much this week & the kids (& myself!!!) sure missed having her around.
Now, almost a week later, she is doing great on her meds + new food & is starting to act like herself again.
Wednesday morning update: she is still pooping blood & is having a hard time keeping her medicine down, but she’s finally eating again. She’s still very lethargic, but super snuggly & sweet (like always). Just taking it one day at a time.
Friday evening update: our vet wanted to see her again as we head into the weekend. Exam & labs look good, red blood count is the same as Monday (he wanted it to be better by now, but glad it's not worse). She's not dehydrated & still no fever. He said to keep a close eye on her over the weekend & we'll talk again Monday. He said dogs an crash fast because of blood loss so that's what I need to watch out for. I am glad she was seen as we head into weekend! Definitely gives me some peace of mind.

Piper & I are sad we didn’t get to go to the K-State game yesterday, but she still needs some time to rest + heal.
