Christmas Decor

One of my favorite parts of having my own apartment this year has been decorating for each season! It's been really fun to shop around & try to figure out what my style is. I've always loved the way that my mom decorates her house for the holidays. I think she has a pretty traditional style but incorporates a little bit of the farmhouse/rustic style as well. My style is the other way around: mostly farmhouse/rustic-y things with a splash of traditional in there.

We thought it would be fun to share how our homes are decorated this Christmas season! A lot of our decor is from Hobby Lobby which we unfortunately can't link, but I got a few things from Amazon this year so we'll link what we can!

Sara's home...

Starting off with our Christmas tree because it's my absolute favorite part of our decorations! We've decorated the tree the same the last few years so everything here is old & can't be linked.

I like to keep it simple with some different sized red ornaments. Some are shiny which makes the lights reflect but some are matte & I love the look of those as well. We have some large candy canes throughout & then one ornament with the initial of each person in our family. Seen below.

The ribbon is also old, but I love the kind of rustic look of it! My favorite thing to do is cozy up in the big chair next to the tree & read a book.

The wooden tray on the ottoman was purchased in Waco, Texas at Harper Design Co. One of my favorite things to do when traveling is buy home decor items that will remind me of our trip whenever I look at them. This always reminds me of a fun family trip we took to Waco over Spring Break a few years ago! The coffee mug is from Hobby Lobby & is currently out of stock online but might be available in stores? The Christmas in My Heart books & Christmas Spot It game are things we grab often & I love having them handy & part of the decor.

Below are a couple of views of our living room & one of my most favorite places to be this time of year!

I love to have some seasonal throw pillows & blankets on the couches just to make it a little more cozy!

This entry table below is old but is a great area to decorate seasonly as well.

The top centerpiece I purchased at Kohl's earlier this season. I can't find it online but I saw it again recently in stores. I just love the way the candles create such a pretty glow! I'm so glad that the candles have a timer so that we can have it set so that they come on every evening.

The bottom part is decorated with some greenery from Hobby Lobby, this beautiful church that my father-in-law made for us & some of my willow tree angels.

I keep it pretty simple in the kitchen with just a centerpiece on the bar, a rug in front of the sink & seasonal hand towels on the stove.

My husband made this tray for me & the rest of the pieces are once again from Hobby Lobby!

This hutch is really the star of the show in our dining room! It was given to me when my grandmother passed away a couple of years ago & my husband made some changes to it that I absolutely love! It used to be a very dark wood with glass covering the front. The glass was wobbly & I was always scared as a kid that I was going to break it! So thankful that he was able to change it up & make it something I treasure so much now!

My grandmother always had a bowl of candy on the shelf (behind the glass -- which explains why I was always nervous as a kid that I was going to break it). I have kept that tradition alive & always make sure there is candy in a bowl. I keep this hutch decorated seasonally. I love putting out last year's Christmas picture of the kids! The coffee mugs, sled & trees are from Hobby Lobby, of course! Ha! The Christmas wine glasses I found at Goodwill & thought it was such a great steal for how darling they are. The dessert & dipping plates were gifted to me by my sister-in-law years ago & I just love them! The reindeer next to the hutch was made by father-in-law. Again, a family treasure!

& finally, our bedroom! For Christmas, I just change out the throw pillow, blanket & coffee mug.

The tray is something I keep on our bed year round. Randy made it for me & it holds our favorite devotional & a seasonal mug.

My hope is that all who stop by our home during the Christmas season feel the warmth & love. We are so very thankful for the gift of the birth of our SAVIOR!

Hope you enjoyed the tour of our home!

Alli's apartment...

The grey floral wall hanging on the left + the wooden tree + the blankets + the white 'pray more, worry less' sign are all from Hobby Lobby so I unfortunately can't link them. The white floral patterned plant pot is from WalMart & they're still in stock. The cream polkadot patterned rectangle throw pillow is from Target & is on sale! I love incorporating different patterns & textures to see what looks best together so you'll see a lot of that throughout my apartment. I got the burlap + red buffalo plaid 'Happy Holidays' banner & the red + white polkadot bowls from Amazon! I thought the bowls were a good idea because I'll be able to use them when I decorate for Valentine's Day as well! The black square ottoman is old from WalMart, but I found a similar one from Amazon that I'll link here.

I'm a big fan of wood, I just really like the way that it looks so natural & adds different texture + dimension to the room. My dad built me the blanket ladder & I absolutely love it! He also built one for my mom & it looks so cute in her basement. He really loves building them so if you're interested & you live in the Moundridge or the Manhattan area, please contact us & he can customize one just for you!

My grandma gave this darling nativity set to me & it was such a joy to finally have a place to set it up this year! My mom gave me the 'O Holy Night' framed hymn piece for Christmas last year. I wanted to have these two pieces of decor next to each other because the nativity is a visual representation of the song displayed. It was indeed, a Holy night. These pieces sit on top of my bookshelf in my living room & is the first thing you see when you walk into my apartment. This area of my living room always fills me with peace when I see it.

The wooden cursive hi sign & the lamp are both old from Hobby Lobby.

Everything on my dining room table is from Hobby Lobby -- gosh darn it!

The red bowl filled with m&ms (because what kind of host are you if you don't have a sweet treat to snack on sitting out?) is from my grandma. The red + white polkadot bowl is from Amazon as well as my best friend, my Amazon echo dot (color is sandstone).

I got this Christmas tree at a local home decor store a couple years ago. It's the perfect size for a single-person home!
