Christmas Tea & Steph's Famous Hot Chocolate Recipes

On Sunday, we had some bad weather & the girls were hoping & preparing for a snow day on Monday -- which we got, yay!! So they got busy making two of our favorite warm drinks to keep in the fridge to have in the coming days! First up is...

Steph's Famous Hot Chocolate

The recipe calls for milk chocolate chips. I only had semi-sweet, so we went with it. We all prefer the milk chocolate though.

Every year, our family joins several others to go Christmas Caroling & it's one of our favorite Christmas traditions. Afterwards, we all gather for chili, cinnamon rolls & snacks. Our friend Steph is an incredible host & we always look forward to the evening! She makes this DELICIOUS hot chocolate! When you see the ingredients you'll know why it's so good!

  • 1.5 cups of heavy cream

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz.)

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

  • 6 cups milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients in crockpot. Cook on low or high depending on how soon you want to serve it! So very good!!

Do you like your hot chocolate with whipped cream, with marshmellows or something different? This is one area the Rices can't agree! Alli doesn't like hot chocolate *gasp*. I like mine with marshmellows only. Bethany likes hers with whipped cream & Avery likes hers with a layer of marshmellows half way through & then topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup & caramel syrup. She has such a sweet tooth! We do all agree that a cute mug makes all the difference though!

Christmas Tea

This is 1/2 a batch.

Bethany is a huge fan of any kind of apple cider, spiced tea, etc. This is a new recipe we found this year & we love it! It leaves your house smelling so Christmasy!!

  • 1 gallon water

  • 2 sticks whole cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves

  • 2 large tea bags (family size)

  • 1 cup sugar (we used splenda)

  • 1 3 oz. package raspberry jello

  • 1 quart cranberry juice

  • 1 quart apple juice

  • 1 cup lemon juice

  • 1 6 oz. can frozen orange juice concentrate

Bring water with cinnamon & cloves to a boil; reduce heat & simmer for 30 minutes. Remove spices. Add tea bags & steep for 6 minutes. Remove tea bags. Add sugar & gelatin. Stir until dissolved. Add juices.

This can be served cold as well, but we all prefer it warm. Store extra in refrigerator.
