Little Life Update: Foot Surgery
what I've been up to...
Good morning, gals! I wanted to share a little life update as things are going to look slightly different on this little corner of the internet for the next couple of months.
It’s been 392 days since I broke my boot, but I’m basically back to day 1 because I finally had surgery! A friend sent me a quote that said, “May you be as patient with yourself in your healing as you were in tolerating your suffering.” That will be my mantra these next few months!
The surgeon said it went well. When he got in there, he discovered the tendon was completely torn, so he shaved off the bone that was in the wrong place, stitched up the tendon & put an anchor in to reattach it. I have a massive splint that’s basically a cast & that will stay on until my follow up on June 11. He said seeing how badly the tendon was torn explained why other things were not helping (PT & the injection) & why I was in so much pain. He is confident that this will bring full healing!
Piper & I will be staying at my parent’s house as I am non-weight bearing & unable to drive for eight weeks.
I am feeling incredibly thankful for the compassionate surgical staff, the comforting messages from family & friends, my sweet snuggly Piper who is very worried about her mama, & most of all for my family for taking the very best care of me. It’s definitely not an ideal situation, but I am already overwhelmed with the support I’ve received & the blessings that are coming through Him.
Piper is putting all of her therapy dog training into practice supporting me postop!
I appreciate you being patient as things look different here this summer. As you know, my mom & sisters also help with the blog, especially during the school year & that will continue. With me having extra time on my hands & not having the ability to do try ons, we plan to focus more on our Facebook sale group by finding & sharing the best deals with you. Be sure to join if you haven't already! Click here for the invite link.
So while you will still see some things from us, I am also feeling God calling me to a time of stillness. A time to heal & rest. A time to evaluate the places that are worth my time & energy & the places I need to pull back. In situations like this (living with your parents when you haven't lived with another human for 6 years; being dependent on others when you’re used to being fiercely independent; etc.) it can be easy to let negativity seep in. I want to be very aware of that & work on all areas of my well-being. So I will share what that looks like a bit along the way too.
Anyway, thank you for being here, whether you are new here or have been following along for a while.
I appreciate you!
